ATF and Lapé Médical are two sister companies belonging to the Gradel family group, which was founded 45 years ago by Maryse and Pierre Gradel, both driven by a shared passion: to use their expertise in the field of bar turning and high-tech technologies to promote French industrial know-how, and to offer innovative, high-quality products for patients and orthopaedic surgery.
Today, their son, Thomas Gradel, presides over this family legacy, which currently has 55 employees, offering a friendly, human-scale working environment.
Most of their marketing activity is concentrated in France, but the companies also have a strong presence on the international stage thanks to a network of distribution partners in more than 20 countries.

Located in Haute-Savoie, in the heart of the Arve Valley, a world-renowned hub of bar turning for its expertise in this highly technical industry, ATF and Lapé Médical draw on this local know-how, thanks to expert production teams and specialist employees in the field.
Bar turning is a precision machining process that involves manufacturing cylindrical parts in series from metal bars, mainly by turning. This technique originated in the Arve Valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc, where it developed in the 18th century with the rise of the Swiss watchmaking industry. At the time, in order to supplement their income during the long winter months when there was no income from the harvest, the region’s farmers began manufacturing small mechanical parts for Geneva watchmakers. Over time, artisanal bar turning became more refined and diversified, particularly with the arrival of automatic machines in the 20th century, making the valley a world-renowned centre of excellence in precision machining for the automotive, aeronautical and medical industries.
